What is
KRONA Insulation?

An answer to unwanted energy transfer:

And more:

  • As an air/vapor barrier, KRONA Insulation prevents drafts and problems caused by water condensation.

  • Within a radiant heat floor system, KRONA Insulation helps to retain and distribute heat within the concrete.

A Closer Look...

At the center of KRONA Insulation is a white polyethylene film, which causes KRONA to reflect nearly all white light (84%).

A sheet of bubble pack (multi-celled plastic film) is laminated to both sides of the polyethylene film. The bubble pack supplies air, which is considered to be one of the best insulation materials.

A layer of metalized polyester is laminated to the outermost sides of the bubble pack.   This 'metalized polyester' is a polyester substrate that has aluminum vapor-deposited on it. The resulting product is thinner, and does not conduct electricity.   The polyester coating protects the aluminum against punctures and allows KRONA Insulation to be used in building construction without strapping.

Physical Properties of KRONA Insulation

Red Ball Improves comfort - saves energy - saves money!
  • Controls heat loss and gain by repelling 94% of hot or cold energy

  • Improves comfort with insulative value.

  • Prevents air infiltration

  • Seals drafts

Red Ball Does not carry an electrical current
  • Will not attract lightning

Red Ball Strong and durable, yet pliable too
  • Resists environmental breakdown and disintegration

  • Strong: high tensile strength of 4.8 Newtons/mm

  • Will not absorb moisture

  • Non-corrosive

  • Blocks the sun's UV rays

  • Resists high heat before melting

    • Deformation of the bubblepack occurs at 300°F

    • Melting of the polyester protective coating occurs at 400°F.

Red Ball Safe, clean, and environmentally friendly
  • Non toxic

  • Non carcinogenic

  • Clean -  does not promote the growth of bacteria or fungi

  • Washable
  • Handling does not require protective clothing or a respirator.

Red Ball Versatile
Acts as a thermal energy barrier in both residential and industrial buildings.
Also lends itself to innovative applications, as it is thin, flexible, and light weight.

Red Ball Easy to handle, simple to install
  • Comes in lightweight, 19 pound (8.6 kg) rolls.

  • Pliable.   Can be shaped.

  • Installs using common fasteners: nails, staples, tacks, bolts, tape, and glue. Velcro fastening systems also work.

  • Cut with a utility knife or scissors.

  • Sew with a commercial sewing machine using a walking foot and a long stitch.
